Growing up with a father in real estate meant I was often surrounded by architects, designers and contractors. Floorplans were the literature of choice in my childhood home, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a “decorator” when I grew up.

After graduating from the George Washington University with degrees in Interior Architecture, Fine Arts and Art History, I apprenticed under residential designers featured in the AD100 and Elle Decor A List as well as esteemed hospitality icon Soho House.

My range of work experiences prior to establishing my studio has rendered me confident in designing homes, boutique hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces, with an architectural fluency ranging from prewar apartments and Georgian estates to Spanish haciendas and contemporary homes.

I prioritize client relationships, making sure to gather a deep understanding of aesthetic taste, spacial requirements, and specific preferences; collaborating with clients to create an environment that reflects how they’d like to live and who they’d like to be. Focusing on the marriage of function and beauty, we honor existing site conditions and architectural vernacular to create a layered, cohesive environment; curating from antique dealers, furniture galleries and auction houses as well as designing custom furniture and lighting.

Katie Salove Design Studio is a full service interior design firm.
